David A. McCarron, MD, FACP
David A. McCarron, MD, is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the University of California at Davis and President of Academic Network, LLC. Dr. McCarron is the Executive Director of Shaping America’s Youth, a national collaborative initiative on childhood obesity. Prior to 2002, he was a tenured Professor of Medicine and Head of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland (1977-2002). Dr. McCarron received his undergraduate degree from Williams College and earned his MD from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his internship and residency training at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, and a nephrology fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, where he also served as Chief Resident in medicine.
